Styling for Portraits

I get asked all the time by clients about what to wear and my response is very simple, “wear what you like!” For the clients that need more guidance, I talk them through a simple “what to wear guide” a few weeks before the session but my list is short:
- What came first the outfit or location? Sometimes where clients choose to take the photo helps give them advice on what to wear or vice versa. So take that into account when your making your decision.
- Don’t underestimate wearing a good shoes or you can just go barefoot (my fav. There will be full body shots and this could be a make it or break the shot.
- For kid shoots I always encourage parents to have them bring their favorite action hero shirt or bring their ballerina attire as a clothing option.
All that being said, I think in the end style depends on the personal preference and hopefully that will come through the day of the shoot.

It is said that there are only three kinds of skippers, those who have run aground, those who will run aground, and those that have but won’t admit it. It is important that every boater be prepared for such an event with knowledge of what to do and the equipment with which to do it!

Jasmine Star and Creative Live Course

I attended an AMAZING creativeLive course with international wedding photographer Jasmine Star. If you are one of the lucky people who attended it, you already know how crazy good it was and I’m sure are excited as I am to watch her shoot the wedding LIVE this weekend!
Hopefully this little plug for Jasmine’s live course is enough to get other some other professional or wanna-be photographers to attend the big event.
